Pastor Ronald Smith’s sermons and teaching are pivotal to our spiritual growth and development. They are designed to be agents that push us to be our best, do our best and enjoy Jesus’ promise of John 10:10: “…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Our services have always been motivating, so prepare to be a part of a great spiritual experience each time you come to worship with us.
We are thankful that you were led by Jesus to our website. We are a Baptist Church and our congregation enjoys the teaching of Christianity in order to fulfill our God given purpose. Our main text and teaching is from the King James Version of the Bible.The ministry we deliver here is the word of God and about the Kingdom of God. Our purpose is to teach and celebrate Jesus’ resurrection and expand his Kingdom to anyone in our midst and outreach to our community to spread his teachings in word and in song.
We believe that the Word of God is the truth and the key to your salvation and eternal life. We are convinced, compelled, constrained and commissioned in today’s sinful world to do our part in delivering wayward sinners to the cross as Jesus did when he began in his earthly ministry. We are soldiers of HIS cross.
We are thankful to God for all of the blessing he has bestowed on our church and members that allows us this privilege to share our ministries with you. It is our hope and through our prayers that you will find and identify with someone or something here that might lead you and your family to join us or that church that will meet you spiritual needs. We welcome you to join us through different meetings during the week and on Sunday to fellowship, learn, and worship with us. God is good! God is eternal! God is real. God is in you. We invite you to help us lift the name of Jesus who is the son of God.
When you drive or walk up on the grounds of Second Baptist Church you should sense a feeling openness. The big white 3 story structure grabs you with its strong 19 century appeal. There is ample off street parking for those who cares to fellowship with us. The congregation is predominately African Americans with a splattering of other racial worshipers. All are welcome to join us, regardless of prior faith or denomination. Expect a spirited 2 hours plus of praising God in message and song during Sunday morning service. Second Baptist has Sunday school study prior to the Sunday morning worship and other services during the week of which a schedule of services can be found within this website.
There is a standard order of service, yet the spirit of God intervene quite often and the praising and celebrating of Gods grace is demonstrated with different moving and verbal expressions. It is truly something to behold. We have a come as you are dress code. You may come casual or in your Sunday best attire. Proper church etiquette is expected. Yet, we want all to feel welcome and comfortable. We welcome you to join us at any time during our different activities and services.
