OUR PASTOR

Rev. Ronald Smith

Rev. Ronald Smith is the senior pastor of the Second Baptist Church in Worcester, MA.  Pastor Thurmond Hargrove asked Pastor Smith to lead his congregation when he realized his health was failing and Pastor Smith immediately stepped in and has continued to be a great leader for the church.

Rev. Smith comes to us from Houston Texas. He is one of the founding members of The New Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church as well as the first ordained deacon of the church; now he leads the church as Senior Pastor. Before being called into the ministry, he served as President for the Men of Christian Action Auxiliary to the National Baptist Convention of America Inc. under the Leadership of Dr. E. E. Jones. On state level, He served as president of the Men’s Auxiliary of Central Missionary Baptist Convention of Texas, Inc.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  •  President Joe Hubbard as Executive Secretary of the Christian Education Board of Central Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas,
  •  Dean of the Congress of Christian Workers of the C.M.B.G.C. of Texas,
  •  2nd Vice Moderator of the Lincoln District Missionary Baptist Association.
  •  Serves as the 2nd Vice President of Central Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas. Inc.
  •  Board member & serves as Advisor in the south district of Houston Independent School District.
  •  Serves as President of Union Baptist Fellowship that unite churches and provide a solid base for young pastors and churches.
  •  A successful businessman who  understands that new businesses in depressed areas mean new opportunities for people in need.
  •  Received national recognition for his work with the Katrina and Rita evacuees.  Such recognition came from local television, local newspapers, National Public Radio, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Geraldo Television, and Fox 26 of New York.
  •  Education: Texas Southern University, College of Biblical Studies, Houston Community College and St. Thomas Theological Seminary, holds a Degree in Bible Studies; a Degree in Counseling; Special Commendations in Theology Studies, and a Doctor of Divinity Degree.
